Use WebP when you need another image format for a website. This example keeps the original dimensions and starts at quality 82. The final file size depends on the picture; compare the downloaded result with the original.
Example input
photo.png · 1200 × 800 pxExpected result
photo.webp · 1200 × 800 pxTry it step by step
- Choose a PNG file from your device. The image is decoded in this browser.
- Keep WebP selected. Start at quality 82, then lower or raise it to compare the result.
- Process the image, inspect the preview and download the WebP file. Check its dimensions and file size.
How to read the result
A 1200 × 800 PNG becomes a 1200 × 800 WebP. Conversion changes the file format, not the canvas size. WebP can retain transparency, but the selected quality may change pixel values. Use the resize tool separately if you also need smaller dimensions.
Limits and important details
A smaller file is not guaranteed. This is a still-image conversion; original metadata and color profiles may change. Keep the original file if exact preservation matters.
